Hi guys,
Today I have a bit of a different post for you today. I am going to be do a series (I think it will be 3 or 4 parts) showing you all of my baking collection. This post is gonna be showing you the top left section of my baking cupboard. I store all my baking stuff in a cupboard in the kitchen.
The next things are couplers. Couplers are what you use to attach the piping bag filling with you icing and the icing nozzle. These came in an icing kit that came with a set I got off Groupon.
The next thing is cupcake cases. Of course these are important to have if you are making cupcakes. You can get these in so many shops, they range in colour/pattern and quality. Although you can get ones that are not much money but still quite good quality. Below I have some from Tesco's, Home Bargains, my local chemist and 'The Cake And Bake Show'.Next I have a cake smoother which I got from the baking shop in my village for £1. A cake smoother is a really good thing to have in your kit, especially if you do a lot of fondant covered large cakes.
Piping Bags! I have some of the reusable fabric piping bags that came with different sets that I have purchased overtime but I must say I think the disposable ones are so much better. The reason for this is because on the first time you use them they are really nice but after that they never wash very well. You can buy decent disposable ones that are so cheap. My favorite ones are ones that I picked up from my local chemist for £1, each pack came with 20. They have a really glossy texture although I wish they did a bigger size in them as well.
This is one of most used icing nozzle, 'the closed star tip'. I think this is an excellent one to get as you could use it to do so many things for example you could use it to do a classic swirl but by using this tip it makes it a bit more detailed/decorative.
I got my blowtorch for Christmas from my Nan and Grandad but I haven't had chance to use yet as I need to buy some of the gas that you need to get the flame. You can use this to either brown your meringues once they have cooked, or even to toast marshmallows (I'm not sure about that last one so maybe don't try it).
This a kitchen timer in the shape of a stand mixer. OMG! I got this for Christmas as well and when I opened it I just fell in love with it. I have it in the mint green colour. I'm not sure where my mum picked this up from but it is by a brand called Lilybell Bakery. It looks so cute on the side when I'm baking.
The next thing is this cookie cutter set that I picked up from the Warehouse shop in Hunstanton for £3.99. It comes with 3 cookie cutters with plungers and a bag of plastic letters (shown in the picture below). You slide the letters into the slots on the cutter and then when you push the plunger down onto your cookie/biscuit dough it leaves an indentation of the letter on you biscuits. These would be perfect to do for party favors because you could stamp the names of the guests into them. The set is by the brand called Neat Ideas. Here is a link to one on Amazon for £7
Next I have to little tubs of pink glitter. The lighter one on the right is quite fine and the darker one on the right are more like glitter shards. I think sprinkling a bit of these onto the top of a frosted cupcake makes them look really nice and also quite professional. Poundland have recently brought out a line of cake decorations and I have spotted some glitters like this in there. They have about 6/8 different and colours and are a bargain for £1 each.
This cupcake topper with cocktail sticks provide a really quick and easy decoration idea for if you don't much time to decorate your cupcakes. You can get pack of these from not much money, although most of the time they come in sets with cupcake cases as well, which would make a nice gift for someone.
So that is everything in my baking collection (well part 1 anyway). Sorry that this has been such a long post but I haven't baked anything since my last post so I thought every now and then when I have been baking that week I can do some posts like this. Hope you enjoyed this post and I will speak to you all next week.
Also Happy Valentines day everyone!!
Love Lauren xx
